Description
This course will provide an introduction to clinical interviewing for the assessment of behavior, personality, and psychopathology; to the administration and interpretation of commonly used objective personality inventories and rating scales; to the administration and interpretation of projective tests; to the administration and interpretation of measures of intelligence (e.g., Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children:IV and Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale:IV); and to test-report writing. Diversity issues (e.g., age, gender, ethnicity, educational level, and sexual orientation) will be considered with respect to psychiatric diagnosis, test administration, interpretation of test findings, and the therapeutic relationship and rapport during testing.Learning Goals/Outcomes: Students will learn basic clinical interviewing skills and will learn how to administer, score, and interpret intelligence, personality, and projective tests. These skills will culminate in the ability to write up a psychological test report.Assessment: Student performance will be based on documentation of skills in interviewing and in intelligence, personality, and projective test reports, as well as participation in class discussion. Grades will be based on test report write-ups, class participation, and observation of test administration and interviewing skills.
