Course Title
Research Methods Tutorial in Human Developmental Psychology I
Department(s)
Description
The purpose of this course is to apply Research Methods in Human Developmental Psychology I to students' own areas of developing research. One focus of the course is readings and in-depth discussions about methodological issues with invited faculty on their areas of methodological expertise. We will also consider 'behind the scenes' methodological issues that may affect research success in developmental studies, such as best practices in gathering developmental data, such as natural language, infant mobility, observations of family interactions, developmental clinical interviewing, demonstration of research-related software applications, and understanding the results reported in empirical papers. Finally, we will engage in writing and design critiques for the research proposal assignment in the Research Methods course.
