Family Systems Theory Treatment and Research II

Department(s)

Description

This course examines the relationship between families and what family systems theory calls "larger systems." Individuals' and families' daily lives include occasional or ongoing relationships with one or more larger societal institutions and systems such as schools; hospitals and health clinics; the world of employment and work; the legal system; and social services. As this course primarily focuses on how to do couple and family therapy, the emphasis will be on how systems and social psychological theories and research support the practice of systemic therapies with couples and families.
