Course Title

Law and Social Science Evidence

Department(s)

Description

In this course, we will look at some of the ways in which scientific information, social science information in particular, has been, and is being, used in courts in this country. We use social science as a tool for legal analysis. We will try to find answers to questions raised by the interaction of law and social science, such as how does a court decide whether scientific information is relevant to a particular case? How should it be admitted into court? What limits should be placed on it? When has it been misused?
